ibisPaint offers a huge variety of materials. Among them, we will introduce “Tracing Sketches Material“, “Manga Balloon Material”, and “Background Material” that can be used in creating manga.
As the name suggests, you can use them by tracing. There are various categories of Tracing sketches Materials such as Whole Body and Partial.
Open ①[Material tool], and select the category of the material that you want to use from ②[Tracing Sketches (Whole Body)], ③[Tracing Sketches (Mini)], ④[Tracing Sketches (Partial)], and ⑤[Tracing Sketches (Building)].
You can use the Tracing Sketches Material as is, but it will be easier to draw if you use Perspective Form or Liquify Pen to adjust it to suit your drawing style.
The trick to making good use of Tracing Sketches Materials is not to trace the lines exactly. If you compare the tracing material with the completed illustration, you can see that the lines are not traced exactly.
Make use of Tracing Sketches Materials to try out difficult poses.
We will explain how to use Manga Balloon Material, which is convenient as you just lay out it.
Open ①[Material tool] and select ②[Manga Balloon].
Once you select a speech balloon and add the words in it, one frame of your manga will be completed in no time.
Here is how to use Background Material, which is convenient as you just place it.
Open ①[Material tool] and select the category that matches the material you want to use from ②[Background Material]. As an example, we used ③[Park (Pond)] in “Anime Background (Gray)”.
If you want to change the color mode of the material from Gray Scale (or Color) to Black & White, we recommend using ④[Filter (Artistic) Manga Background].
Place it in the background and you are done. The worldview of the frame expands dramatically.
